Terrazzo floor restoration in Sarasota and Bradenton
Under the carpet or tile in most homes here built before 1974 is a terrazzo floor. We have been bringing them back since 2006: removing what covers them, repairing the damage, and diamond polishing the marble and cement to a deep, clear shine that lasts about ten years without professional maintenance.

What we do for terrazzo floors
One crew handles the whole job, from pulling up the old flooring to the final polish.

Restoration and polishing
We grind off the wax, old sealer and stains, then diamond polish the floor through ten steps until the floor holds a clear reflection.

Trench, crack and hole repair
From small chips from tack strips to large trenches from repipes, we fill it all.

Tile and carpet removal
We take up tile, carpet and tack strip the careful way, because how the old floor comes up decides how much repair the terrazzo needs.
We also polish concrete slabs with the same machines and diamonds. Ask about it when you call.
Not sure there's terrazzo under there?
You may have it and not know. Most Sarasota County homes built before 1974 have terrazzo throughout.
Here's where to look:
- Your front step. If it's terrazzo, chances are the whole house is.
- A closet corner where the carpet lifts easily.
Snap a photo and text it to us. We'll tell you what you have and what it will take to bring it back.

What customers say about the work
Our restorations are done by Terrazzo Artisans, which is why you'll see that name on these Google reviews.
James Martin is truly an artist!! He is calm and very patient. Right before he was scheduled to restore my old terrazzo, I had plumbing issues which resulted in large cuts in my floors. James repaired with as perfect a match as you can get! […] I had used him many years ago at another house I had. At the time he was working with his dad. So he has at least 20 years experience ; I can call him an expert. I Highly recommend without reservation! he will not disappoint!!
Terrazzo Artisans exceed expectations every time! 3 jobs over the course of a couple years at different houses and each time the workmanship is excellent!
Floors look fantastic! My floors were a mess carpet tacks, holes, stains from linoleum, James and his crew made them look new. If they can fix my floors, they can fix anything! They were reliable, polite, and answered all my questions. Did everything they promised. No games, just results!

Questions we hear every week
Can my terrazzo floor be restored?
Almost always. We regularly restore floors that spent forty years under carpet or tile, and floors other companies turned down. What can rule a floor out is heavy physical damage, or marks some old flooring leaves behind, like the grid pattern from glue-down tile. We'll tell you honestly at the free estimate.
How much does terrazzo restoration cost?
It is priced by the square foot, and it usually comes in close to a good new floor while giving you something far better. New terrazzo costs well $100 a square foot to install, so restoring the floor you already own is the bargain. We give you a written price after seeing the floor in person.
How long does it take?
Most homes take two to four days on site. Heavy repair work or a large commercial floor takes longer, and your estimate includes a day count.
Is it messy?
Much less than you'd expect. We grind dry with oversized HEPA dust collection that pulls the dust off the floor as we work, so it doesn't drift through the house.
How long will the shine last?
In most homes, about ten years before it needs attention. There is no wax or coating on top to wear through. When the time comes, a repolish is a shorter job than the first restoration.
Do you take up the carpet and tile?
Yes. We remove tile, carpet, tack strip and vinyl, and we cut the tack strip nails instead of prying them out, which saves your floor hundreds of chips.
